Road tested and artist approved, the Reverend Charger 290 comes outfitted with top-notch tonewoods and custom-crafted electronics, but this iteration of the axe takes your tone-crafting tools the extra mile, thanks to the inclusion of a Bigsby B50 vibrato and accompanying roller bridge. The Charger 290s sonic personality and reliable build are more than capable of getting the goods for studio pros, bedroom producers, and gigging artists alike. A lightweight korina body delivers full-bodied resonance with noticeable mahogany-like warmth. This perfectly pairs with the roasted maple neck and smooth-as-glass rosewood fretboard; in addition to granting greater stability and sonic depth than a non-roasted maple neck, the vintage-style aesthetics of roasted maple only add to your presence! Tone-wise, two in-house Reverend 9A5 pickups deliver supercharged P-90 single-coil definition with brawny output and clarity. These arent your grandparents P-90s theyre Reverend pickups! Moreover, numerous high-end appointments deliver versatile tone-tweaking options matched with reliable, gig-worthy hardware, with plenty of expressivity in tow. Pin-lock locking tuners, an innovative Bass Contour, a treble bleed circuit, premium pots and caps, and a Pure Tone jack merge to form a mechanically and electronically sound guitar thats beyond reliable just ask the axe masters here who have found a perfect fit, with this Reverend in their rigs.
High-caliber foundations optimized for musicians
Reverends consistency in quality and incredible tone is a hallmark of the brand, and it all starts with the woods. The company focuses on a no-compromise standard their meticulously chosen woods combine long-lasting durability with room-filling resonance. Korina bodies are well known for their presence in boutique and custom-shop instruments, exuding velvety warmth while balancing lows, mids, and highs exceptionally well. The Charger 290s roasted maple neck feels sturdy in the hands, holding up to humidity changes while out on the road and delivering that beloved snap. Meanwhile, the rosewood fretboard up top imbues your sound with presence and panache, coating your tones in a crystalline veneer that tames errant frequencies without compromising definition.
Distinguished Reverend P-90s
Rather than rely on third-party pickups to get the job done, Reverend took it upon themselves to craft their own for the Charger 290. Loaded in both positions are custom-voiced single-coils, akin to vintage P-90s with slight tweaks to deliver a distinct sound. The 9A5 in the bridge bites just like a P-90 should, with added thickness and heat that works exceptionally well for modern genres and playing styles. Our players are quick to point out the clarity of the 9A5 in the neck position: its cleaner than your standard P-90 while possessing all the smoothness and prominent mids of its inspiration. When you need a versatile workhorse, this impressive set of pickups is sure to give you a standout sound.
Boutique quality for every guitarist
One strum is all it takes to experience the exquisite quality of Reverends guitars. The Charger 290 comes stock with several enhancements typically reserved for instruments more than double the cost. The result? A 6-string with an elite, pro-quality feel. The Bass Contour knob is a handy tool for tone shaping. Its capable of tightening up flub and even changing the characteristics of your pickups humbuckers can quickly morph into single-coils with this awesome mod! Like all of Reverends other offerings, the Charger 290 has an upgraded jack courtesy of Pure Tone Technologies. Rather than employ the standard single contact, Pure Tone jacks use a pair of contacts for a tighter connection and a more consistent signal. Lets not forget the treble bleed circuit for retaining your high end when rolling back the volume, which is made even better with 10% poly caps and pots for much more consistent performance. With a Reverend in your hands, you can rest assured that only the best components are under the hood.
