The Reverend Airsonic W Blackout offers a bold new look to this fusion of singing solidbody sustain and semi-hollow harmonic richness, with blacked-out components from the tuners to the electronics. Sporting a curvy and comfortable offset design, the Airsonic W Blackouts korina body features two through-body F-holes for semi-hollowbody-like resonance, while a roasted maple neck with a sleek ebony fretboard free of inlays completes the modern design. Between the onboard Wilkinson tremolo bridge and a pair of Railhammer pickups, there’s a lot of tonal territory to explore. The included Railhammers capture the P-90 essence without the 60-cycle hum and are capable of everything from hot, amp-crushing output to daintier, classic P-90 tones with a vintage vibe. Factor in Reverend’s acclaimed Bass Contour control, and it’s clear the Reverend Airsonic W Blackout is destined to become your new favorite onstage or in the studio.
Railhammer pickups are optimized for fat, punchy tone
Our guitarists love the Railhammer sound! An original design by Reverend founder Joe Naylor, Railhammer pickups upgrade P-90-style single-coils with more presence, more punch, and humbucker-like sustain that’s unbelievable until you experience it yourself. One Heavy 90 pickup (formerly the Huevos 90) fills the bridge position where ceramic magnets supply the heaviest output of any Railhammer pickup currently produced. The Nuevo 90 Railhammer in the neck position offers a more balanced sound that captures classic P-90 soul just with no hum and better sensitivity to player dynamics. What’s more, each Railhammer features rail magnets beneath your wound strings for lows that are tight, punchy, and free from mud. Beneath your plain strings, Railhammers use pole pieces, which fatten up solos, melodies, and lead lines with an extra-beefy emphasis on the fundamental.
Fine-tune your tone with the Bass Contour control
Guitarists here often wonder why more guitars don’t offer a bass roll-off control, like the Airsonic W Blackout’s Bass Contour knob. Dial it back just a bit to tighten up your rhythm tones, or roll it back further to emphasize attack and presence. Or use it in conjunction with the standard tone control for mid-focused tones you normally couldn’t achieve without an EQ or filter pedal.
Pure Tone jack gig with confidence
The vast majority of guitar output jacks have just one contact point for your cable’s plug, a common point of signal failure after years of use. Not so with the Reverend Airsonic W Blackout, thanks to its innovative jack by Pure Tone Technologies, which features dual contact points that grip your guitar cable’s plug firmly. The last thing you need when you hit the stage is an intermittent signal caused by a worn-out jack, and that’s one less thing you’ll need to worry about, thanks to the Airsonic W Blackout’s Pure Tone jack.
