Hearkening back to the original G&L Skyhawk of 1984, the Fullerton Deluxe Skyhawk has evolved to a uniquely offset-body guitar that blends hints of several classic body cuts into a wonderfully playable and incredibly stage-ready electric. This double-cutaway features a resonant, lightweight ash body and a trio of dual Magnetic Field Design single-coil pickups for outstanding tone. The Skyhawk also features a gorgeous maple fingerboard that is beautifully playable and responsive. In addition, a Leo Fender-designed Dual-Fulcrum vibrato one of Leo’s final passion projects delivers impeccable tuning stability and stellar vibrato. The Fullerton Deluxe has been winning over legions of fans among guitarists since they first arrived.
One of the highlight improvements of the Skyhawk is the Dual-Fulcrum vibrato, a feature Leo was especially proud of. This awesome vibrato features two pivot points instead of the six wood screws of classic tremolos. The result is a silky smooth response when bending notes up or down. This incredible vibrato is supported by a hardened steel bridge plate that pivots on bolts set into large brass inserts anchored into the body. What’s more, the bridge block is machined from solid 1018 cold-rolled steel the result is not only a stellar vibrato action, but also rock-solid tuning and mind-blowing durability. And with a robust aluminum tremolo arm, you’re ready to dive-bomb leads.
The trio of MFD pickups in the Skyhawk is a tone-chaser’s dream. Ever pushing the boundaries, Leo Fender designed the MFD with a thicker magnet and fewer coils. The result is a tighter magnetic field with an increased output that translates to big tone! This higher output doesn’t compromise the classic glassy single-coil tone nor the detail in notes they are known for. Each pickup also features individually adjustable pole pieces that give you even further control on shaping the tone of these pickups. And with two Tone controls, a master Volume, and a 3-way switch, you have quick and easy access to tweaking your sound onstage.
