The G&L CLF Research Doheny V12 solidbody electric guitar is the delivery system for G&L’s most versatile generation of Magnetic Field Design (MFD) pickups, and you’ll be amazed at the range of tone they offer. CLF Research MFD humbucking pickups are the result of years of fine-tuning, and are designed to sound equally beautiful in series, parallel, and single-coil modes. The CLF Research Doheny V12 is equipped with a three-way toggle switch for each pickup to access the aforementioned modes allowing you to use the neck pickup in single-coil mode while the bridge pickup is in series-humbucking mode, for example. Complete with other premium components like G&L’s Dual-Fulcrum vibrato, and a real bone nut, the G&L CLF Research Doheny V12 is well-equipped to serve your musical needs for a lifetime.
The CLF Research MFD humbucking pickups in the Doheny V12 are the end result of a quest to make a set of humbuckers that sound fantastic no matter how they’re wired, whether in series-humbucker, parallel-humbucker, or single-coil modes. With the CLF Research Doheny V12, you have three-way toggle switches to access these modes individually for each pickup. All sorts of sonic combinations become possible 15, in fact (three options for neck pickup only, another three for the bridge only, and nine possible combinations with both pickups engaged).
If you’re drawn to the creative potential a tremolo bridge offers, but are concerned about tuning stability, you definitely need to try out the CLF Research Doheny V12. It’s equipped with G&L’s Dual-Fulcrum tremolo, an original design by Leo Fender himself. You’ll be able to bend notes and chords up or down with amazing tuning stability even after deep dives. And thanks to its natural bone nut, tuning issues caused by string binding at the nut are a non-issue.
The more we play with G&L’s PTB tone system, the more we realize how useful it is to have a low-cut control on an electric guitar. The PTB tone system essentially includes one traditional tone knob to roll off high frequencies, and another tone knob to roll off low frequencies. The bass roll-off is especially useful in high gain applications like fuzz pedals, tightening up low-end punch and keeping your tone from getting too muddy. It’s also a great way to add guitar overdubs to a mix without adding too much low-mid frequency content.
