Billed as the first ever microphone voiced by popular vote, theElementfromAston Microphonesis a large-diaphragm microphone with a proprietary, active dynamic Ridyon transducer that delivers the best of dynamic, condenser, and ribbon technologies to provide users with a warm, punchy, open sound. The Element has set world records as one of the quietest microphones available with one of the widest frequency responses of any electromagnetic mic ever made.
Designed and developed in the UK, the Element was produced with the contributions of thousands of musicians, engineers, and producers from all over the world, resulting in a microphone that outperforms most other mics in its price range, and many of those above as well. The Ridyon capsule performs with smooth tonality, like a ribbon, but with the extended high-frequency response and studio sound of a condenser as well as the tough resiliency of a dynamic microphone. Maintaining Aston’s reputation for solid build quality, the body is durable and reliable, and the sleek microphone also includes a backlit LED behind the logo badge to let you know when the required 48V phantom power is coming through. The Element bundle includes a proprietary shockmount with a one-click design specifically for the Element, and a unique magnetic pop filter that attaches in an instant.
Ridyon Capsule TechnologyThe mic itself boasts brand new Ridyon capsule technology, combining the best elements of all 3 existing classes of microphone. Utilizing 48V phantom power, the mic’s incredibly lightweight active, moving-coil diaphragm delivers high-end condenser mic sensitivity and performance, with the punchy bass and rejection capability of a great dynamic mic, and the open, natural sound of a ribbon.Developed by Popular VoteMore than 4000 people signed up to be part of Project Element. They participated in blind-listening tests rating, from best to worst, downloaded audio files of Element prototypes against leading competitors’ mics (including some far costlier models) but without knowing which mic was which.
The voting data was analyzed and the prototypes modified accordingly. The process would run for as many sessions as necessary until the Element was consistently receiving the majority vote. By the third session, Element was the panels clear favorite for both male and female vocals and also rating highly for acoustic guitars.
Proprietary Shockmount and Pop FilterThis stylish and highly effective shockmount, included as part of the mic bundle, has been designed specifically for the Aston Element to eliminate undesirable vibrations. All it takes is one click, and the Element is securely attached to its mount.
Along with the mount, a magnetic pop filter is included in the bundle, providing reliable protection from pesky plosives. The proprietary magnets allow the filter to attach to the mic in a split second, and the magnets are shielded in such a way as to keep the capsule sound completely free of artifacts.
